A lot has happened in business since 2005, particularly in the “global” sense. Human Resources (HR) as a function has evolved into mainstream, but more importantly the attitude towards HR has shifted dramatically. Its role has changed from passive compensation, benefits & compliance to HR organization which is highly proactive partner playing a leadership and change agent role in the organization.
Learning & Development (L&D) form one of the core activities of HR. The responsibility for education and training of employees is shifting from schools to employers. In fact, L&D equips workforce with skills necessary in the changing competitive landscape. After all, a company’s only real sustainable competitive advantage is its human capital. Anything else–products, services, processes, facilities–can be copied; people can’t.
